Center Tube Allows for Easy Mooring
The Sur-Moor Mooring Buoy lets you attach your pennant line to the top of the buoy instead of the submerged bottom, offering a faster, easier connection. No need to lift or maneuver the buoy out of the water.
The trick is the hollow tube that passes through the center of the buoy. This allows you to run the anchor chain directly up through the tube and out the top of the buoy. Simply connect your pennant to the shackle on the end of the chain and you're all set.
Recessed Top Cradles Your Shackle
On a standard mooring buoy the metal shackle protrudes from the top, which makes it really easy to scrape your hull if you get too close when connecting. Eliminate that risk with this Sur-Moor Mooring Buoy, which has a recessed top that lets your anchor shackle sit inside the buoy body. This keeps your shackle away from your boat, while conveniently cradling it for easy access when you're setting up.

Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Taylor Made Sur-Moor, mooring buoy. This is going to be an anchor point to tie off your boat to while you're out still on the water, so you don't necessarily have to dock. You're still just going to have a nice anchor point to keep your boat from floating off where you don't want it to be. So this guy is going to have a 100 pound buoyancy rating.
It also has the center stripe there to give it a little bit more visibility.And if you look down the top, it has this kind of recessed top mount, so that helps to kind of clean up the look there. We can still have our easy attachment point to that anchor in the center. It does not come with the anchor chain or the shackle to pass up through that center, nor does it have the pennant line. So those are items that you would have to purchase separately. But that center tube allows you to get everything in place.
We flip it over on the other side, you can see that there it comes out of the right at the bottom.So pretty easy to just run everything up through there and have your secure attachment point. It does have a polyethylene shell, so it's going to be resistant to UV rays and should last for a long time even being in salt water. The inside is going to be made about closed foam or closed cell foam, so it's going to stay nice and buoyant. It doesn't require any kind of inflation or maintenance or anything like that to keep it afloat in the water. The tube diameter here is going to be 2-1/2 inches across.
The total buoy diameter is going to be 18 inches across. And then again that buoyancy is going to be 100 pounds.It does have a three year limited warranty from Taylor Made. And that's pretty much going to do it for our look at the Taylor Made Sur-Moor, mooring buoy with that center tube and recess top.
